Welcome to Wild In Britain, an occasional and irregular photo journal of my encounters with all types of wildlife in the British Isles. All species featured on the site are wild, and all photographs are the copyright of Ben Locke. For prints and licensing click here. Please also take a look at my main site BenLocke.co.uk
The pictures are poor, but they show Red Squirrels that I photographed in Scotland, in woodland next to Loch Ness. I saw a number of Reds that day, but the one thing they all had in common was a striking blonde/white tail. I've seen Reds elsewhere in Scotland, as well as in the south on Brownsea Island, but I've never seen this colouration elsewhere. I'd be interested to know if anyone has an explanation for this!
